Entrepreneurship can be defined as a type of ability, capability, or talent to create and manage the business or businesses and try to attempt to generate more profitability. In other word, Scott Shane define entrepreneurship as a type of activity that involves discovery, evaluation, exploitation of opportunities. This may include the creation, promotion, research, and development to the mining of the potential, increasing the value, improving the quality of the product, and services to grant a bigger market share to obtain more profit. To become better entrepreneurship also requires many relevant skill such as leadership skill, financial skill, creativity, and innovative minding, especially the teamwork of each member in the work and so on.
However, there is a new concept in
the entrepreneur which is call social entrepreneurship. This concept was new
starting familiar from the England. The difference between social
entrepreneurship and common entrepreneurship can be seen on the word of social.
Social entrepreneurship is to create and
develop business based on the purpose of public welfare which mean is to
implement solution to improve or solving the issues that related with social,
culture, or environment.
While most of the common entrepreneur is motivated primarily by the profitability, it will not bring impact or benefit to the social. At this point, the social entrepreneurship is seeking and aim to produce some of the environmentally friendly product or service which may be helping in the serving of community or philanthropic activities. For example, a chef in a restaurant that more takes care of the profit or self-interest than was a common entrepreneur, another chef just wants to cook delicious food to bring the customer happiness and earn a living can be classified as social entrepreneurship. As a simple conclusion, common entrepreneurship is profit aiming to motivate, but social entrepreneurship is doing business based on social responsibility.
