In what way are the music and art important for society and for the individual?

We know that music and art are one of the important and unique things which born because of humanization. Based on the people, the places, the situation, and other more reason, it will be more different music and art forms. Nowadays in the world, there may already have hundred, thousand, million, or even more of the song been sing by the people, but are we really know why it is important for society and individuals.

 

Music and art are important as a bridge to connect different people, different civilizations. Music and art are a way to convey the message or the feeling to other people. When people listen to music, it may possibly affect people’s emotions, maybe become sad or happy. This is also why music can be sort into many types such as jazz, rock, rap, and so on. In the lesson of the singing, some people say that song with emotion will be more touching. Art is also the same, the draw can become a method to pass the message. For example, when the son is leaving the home so a long time, and he sends the picture or painting of himself back to the home, which means he wants to tell his family that he is missing them. This has proven that music and art are a way of communication.

 

Other than that, as I said music and art can use to convey the message and feelings, and it is also a very effective method to express the feeling, especially when somebody is angry, sad, losing hope because of some unfortunate incident. In this situation, some of the people will choose to grab the car, go to KTV, drink alcohol, and sing. And after it, people will always feel better after singing. Art is also working well to express the feeling. For example, when a kid is drawing a house with his family member, we can know that that kid is loving his family. (Epperson, 2019)

 

Third, music and art are also a method to make the memory stay alive. There are many story and memory, feeling that including in the music and art sometimes. In the old times, when the paper was very valuable, poor people were not able to use the paper, the music is the only method to tell their future generations about the message. Art is also very popular especially in the western country to keep the memory. Till today, there are many arts that are storing the story inside, some of the art telling the history, some of the art is telling a story of the people, there are really many types of them and been stored in the art gallery or museum nowadays.
